In Cygni, you’ll take control of a lone starfighter going up against swarms of sci-fi enemies. It’s not all slick moves and shooting everything in sight, though. You’ll need to deftly shift your power focus around from shields to guns (or whatever weapons you create) as the situation warrants, and launch air-to-ground attacks to take out enemies on the surface below — assuming there is a surface.

Your ventures take place over brightly-lit neon cities of the future, vast moonscapes, and even the empty cold reaches of space itself. Keelworks promises these will look and sound pretty darn good too. Cygni will take advantage of next-gen hardware to create special effects and visuals and also features a fully orchestrated soundtrack.

You might have heard of Keelworks before. It’s composed of two former Pixar and Hollywood visual effects artists who taught themselves Unreal from the ground up. Their work was impressive enough to earn an Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games.

We’ve got a while yet until we can get a taste of Cygni: All Guns Blazing, but stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Cygni and next-gen game news as it develops.
